Client
Premises Equipment
In order to use CDi
Broadband internet service, each customer needs to have a small
antenna and transceiver that sends and receives microwave radio
signals from a community tower. As part of the installation and
activation process, CDi will provide and install the needed
equipment at the customers home or office. The exact equipment used
will depend on a number of factors, such as distances from the
service tower, line-of-sight from the customer's location to the
service tower, and the space available to mount the equipment.
In most cases, CDi will install an integrated antenna and transceiver.
This keeps the equipment all together outside with the antenna. In some
cases because of the longer distance the signal has to travel from the
tower to the customer, or because of poor line-of-sight CDi will choose to
install a separate antenna and transceiver. In these cases the antenna is
mounted as high as possible, to maximize line-of-sight to the tower and
the transceiver is mounted in a separate weatherproof enclosure next to
the antenna.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What equipment
does CDi provide as a part of the installation?
A: CDi Broadband will provide the antenna, transceiver, wireless or
wired broadband router and the necessary cabling and mounting hardware.
The mounting hardware may include up to a 10ft. mounting pole as needed.
If more height is required for a specific installation, a small ham radio
style tower may be needed. If a tower is needed, CDi will help to arrange
the tower installation, but the cost of the tower and installation of the
tower will be the responsibility of the customer, above and beyond the CDi
standard installation charge.
Q: What does the installation charge include?
A: The CDi installation and activation charge includes installing
the antenna, and transceiver at the customers location and connecting that
equipment to the provided router. In addition, CDi will configure one
computer to use the internet connection through the router. Connecting
additional computers to use the service provided through the router,
either over network cable, or wirelessly, will be done at the customer's
request for an additional charge of $35.00 per hour, with a $25.00 minimum
that covers the first 30 minutes of time. If additional equipment or
cabling is needed to connect the additional computers to the router, these
materials will be charged to the customer in addition to the hourly
charge.
Q: What happens if
the equipment stops working and needs to be replaced?
A: It is the customer's responsibility to let CDi know if the
service has stopped working. After being notified of a service outage, CDi
technical support will troubleshoot the problem. If it is found that the
customer premises equipment has failed, and needs to be replaced, CDi will
replace the equipment at no additional charge to the customer.
Q: What happens to the equipment if I cancel my service for some
reason?
A: CDi
retains ownership of the equipment installed at the customer's location.
If a customer cancels service for any reason, CDi will setup a time to
uninstall the equipment used to connect to the CDi Broadband service. This
includes antenna, transceiver, and router, in addition to related cabling
and connectors.
